Message from Jassi...
September has been a busy month. Supporters overseas have been working incredibly hard to co-ordinate and organise functions for the current North America Tour. We have seen, from the first few days of that Tour, just how much that hard work has paid off. Thank you to everyone for all the effort and assistance.

Otherwise, Punjab has seen an ongoing power crisis, unseasonably hot weather, and the start of the paddy harvest. I sincerely hope that the cooler weather is just around the corner, bringing some relief.

Encouragingly, I have received a lot of correspondence this month from people keen to communicate their support and ideas. Please do keep the mails coming, I very much welcome the dialogue.
North America Tour
The North America tour started with a big welcome at the airport, with many supporters there to meet Jassi's group. The first meeting, at Colombia, was an enormous success, with extra seating having to be provided for the strong turnout. We have been delighted to see many new faces, as well as long term supporters. This support and the new ideas and inputs it brings are the very things that can help us make a difference.

Tree planting at Macro Dairy
S. Jagpal Singh Khangura planted the first sapling in a ceremony at Macro Dairy in Latala.  300 other saplings were planted at the same time to provide shade in the local area.  This is the beginning of what will be an ongoing project to plant trees around MDVL farms, ensuring a greener, less barren landscape in Punjab, which suffers greatly from lack of trees and shade.

MDVL general update
Progress continues rapidly at Macro Dairy. More Women Entrepreneurs have started their roles at Phallewal Satellite Unit, and the Central Animal Unit has seen the arrival of many more milch animals. The most exciting development of September was undoubtedly the commissioning of the new milking parlour at the Phallewal Satellite Unit. This absolute latest in dairy technology will help ensure the quality and hygiene of Macro Dairy milk.

English Language Training
This month saw the arrival of Stephen, from the UK, to teach English classes.  Stephen is a volunteer who has trained in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) in the UK.  He will be with us at least until November, which really gives everyone a good opportunity to spend many hours a week on valuable practice sessions.  Stephen is passionate about teaching and language and is delighted to see his students gaining confidence over time, and sounding more natural with their spoken English day by day.
